In support of the government initiative, Learning Outside the Classroom (LOtC), Harrow House Residential Educational Facility organises FREE CPD Events for teachers. This year we are running the following events:

Outdoor Education on the Isle of Purbeck
Tuesday 31st August – Wednesday 1st September 2010
This FREE event has been organised to showcase the many different outdoor learning opportunities available on the Isle of Purbeck as well as ideas for engaging students with the outdoor environment within school grounds. This two-day event includes visits to various outdoor learning centres in and around Swanage where participants will be able to take part in workshops and outdoor activities.
FREE full-board accommodation provided by Harrow House Residential Facility, participating centres include the Townsend Centre, Durlston Country Park, Brenscombe Outdoor Centre and Allnatt Venues.

A Weekend Showcasing the Wealth of Geographical Opportunities for KS4 and A-level on the Isle of Purbeck.
Saturday 9th – Sunday 10th October 2010
This FREE event has been organised in conjunction with Leeson House and the programme will include site visits to Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door, Studland, Swanage Bay and Boscombe, practical fieldwork sessions and talks.
Aspects covered will be:
• Classic landforms and fieldwork for GCSE controlled assessments
• A-level coastal processes
• Vegetation succession
• Crowded coasts
• Urban rebranding
• Flood alleviation and coastal management
